At 36 years of age, Steve Gleaner’s been working with cars for more than half his life time, and most of those have been Lamborghini’s! After working as a mechanical super genius for other companies, he got smart and went solo three years ago, forming Driven Exotics in Gilroy, California. Gleaner’s shop is the only one of its kind in the United States that offers a 100% focus on Lamborghini cars. There are never less than 20 in the shop for services ranging from routine fluid changes to major performance enhancements like the addition of a Driven X custom exhaust system. It’s no bull that Driven Exotics is FULL OF BULL!

As a sponsor of this year’s 2009 La Dolce Vita Automobili at Black Horse event, Steve looks forward to hosting many of his Lamborghini clients who will bring their high performance supercars from all over for a day of kickin’ it on the green and showing off their beautiful rides. Early entries show more than 20 of these V12 monsters in virtually every color of the rainbow and in every configuration offered by the factory. Held on Friday, August 14, 2009, the event will display several hundred Italian sports cars and exotics with names like Pantera, Ferrari and Maserati as well as rare race cars supercars.

One special display will showcase non-Italian cars and cars featured at other events held on the peninsula during the famous Monterey Car Week such as Bugatti and Porsche. The car week takes place during the second week of August each year in Nor Cal and now offers more than 12 events including classic car auctions, car shows and even races at Laguna Seca Raceway but Friday, it’s all about La Dolce Vita Automobili at Black Horse. A very cool feature will showcase the works of students from various college design centers around the country. These are the guys who will determine what cars will look like and how they will perform years and decades from now.

Steve plans to bring one of his own rides to the La Dolce event. It’s exceptional because it has a 5 speed with a DE performance package that includes a custom Driven X exhaust system and other add-ons you can’t get anywhere else in the world except from his shop. He’s running stock Pirelli 235/35ZR18’s in the front and 335/30ZR18’s in the rear for steady handling and they’re wrapped around stock magnesium wheels painted black which only makes his 2001 Lamborghini Diablo 6.0VT’s Arencio Atlas paint job stand out more. (That’s screaming orange to you and me) The black interior with orange piping makes the exterior scream even louder.

Amazingly, this thing only needs a tune-up once a year. It takes 15 quarts of oil and “It cruises at twice the speed limit” according to Gleaner. There’s no drifting going on with this one since most Lambos are 4WD. Steve likes to clear the pipes at 200+ mph on country roads when he gets the opportunity and notes that typically, people aren’t trying to race him, they’re just trying really hard to keep up and snap a picture. He’s done the Bullrun on his favorite stretch of highway between Los Angeles and Las Vegas and he’s quite positive he’s NOT gonna tell us where his favorite place is to open it all the way. We’ll respect that.

The first Lamborghini Gleaner ever wrenched on was a 25th Anniversary Countach and he’s literally worked on hundreds of Lamborghini’s since, more than one hundred of those in the last three years since opening the doors to Driven Exotics. Now that he’s a family guy, a BMW X6 serves as the family driver. He’s got one of the hottest Lambos around but he’s got a wish list just like the rest of us and has his sights set on a ’94 SE30 Jota Diablo someday. More on Driven Exotics: www.drivenexotics.com
