TZ: What is your name?

JA: Jasmynne Ali

TZ: And what ethnicity are you?

JA: I’m 100% Persian.

TZ: Did you grow up here?

JA: Yep well, Portland, Oregon.

TZ: Are you first generation here then?

JA: Yeah my parents came over about 25 years ago like right after the revolution, so I was pretty much born and raised here.

TZ: Do you have any siblings?

JA: I have a little brother, he’s 18 but he acts like my older brother. He’s a little protective of me, but that’s ok.

TZ: That’s cool, if I had an older sister like you, I’d be protective of you too –chuckle-

JA: Oh yeah, yeah it’s a good thing.

TZ: So how did you get started into modeling or at least in imports? Did you start modeling or were you in the import scene?

JA: No it was by total accident, actually. I had my car at the show and I was walking around the day before the show to one of those modeling booths. A couple of those people asked me to hang out the next day and after that ever since that, I kinda got into modeling from there.

TZ: Was it here down in Portland?

JA: Yeah it was Import Life here about a year back.

TZ: So do you plan on doing this as a career, or something on the side?

JA: Well, import stuff is fun and all, but I don’t see it as my lifetime goal or anything. It’s not bad, but I’d like to get into other things.

TZ: What do you plan to do eventually then?

JA: Honestly, I’d like to do bigger things, like Maxim, or FHM, or Playboy…something up there in that department. So, that’s kind of helping me get there, FHM is coming along, but I’d like to work more toward Playboy, that’s my idea.

TZ: So what’s this FHM thing that’s coming along?

JA: I’m going to be part of the 20 Hot Dates thing. It was by accident too…someone just told me to send in my picture and they e-mailed me back saying they were going to use it.

TZ: Do you plan to do modeling as a career then?

JA: I think for now, but I don’t think it’s something I can fall back on. I think it’s something that if you have the time and the passion, you should go ahead, but I’d never rely on it.

TZ: Other than modeling stuff, what do you like to do in your spare time?

JA: I like shopping and sleeping.

TZ: Sleeping is awesome.

JA: Yeah, especially when you get like 3 hours a night. Other than that, I also do club promotions for flyers and magazines, and some go-go dancing. I’ve also been trying to learn how to run a website because I have no idea how to do it. I’m TRYING to learn it but it’s SO hard because I can barely use my cell phone.

TZ: You just gotta talk to the right people then –chuckle-. So what are you driving right now?

JA: It’s a 2003 Volkswagen Golf. I nicknamed him Hamilton. It’s not a bad car, but I want to trade it in and get a Benz though. I love European cars and I want to move up to a car where I don’t have to do anything to it, I can just buy it stock and just tint it. I kinda want a Benz but I kinda hesitant on it though.

TZ: What kind of Benz are you looking at?

JA: I like the SUV one.

TZ: Oh, the ML?

JA: Yeah and it’s kinda weird because I normally hate 4-door cars.

TZ: If you had your choice then, what would be your dream car?

JA: I was looking at this one car, SLR-something?

TZ: McLaren SLR?

JA: Yeah the Mercedes one. Oh my god, I would live in that car, but it’s like 450-grand or something. I’d basically buy the car and not live anywhere else, since it’s like buying a house. It’s so pretty though and it’s gorgeous. I don’t know one person who doesn’t like that car.

TZ: Okay, so here’s a random question. If you could be any animal, what would it be?

JA: Oh my god, this is going to be the stupidest answer. You remember Napolean Dynamite?

TZ: You want to be a llama?

JA: No I want to be a Liger. That’s the first thing I thought of. Are those real?

TZ: Haha no.

JA: Are you sure? Because someone told me they were real.

TZ: I’m pretty sure they’re not.

JA: Hmmm, I think I’d want to be a lion then. Actually lions are our country’s animal, like the Griffin?

TZ: Griffins are lions with wings.

JA: Yeah, but…I like lions and penguins, because they’re monogamous.

TZ: Oh if you like penguins, you should go see Madagascar. The penguins rule.

JA: I don’t know, I don’t like those kind of movies like Shrek and all that. I never watch them.

TZ: That’s blasphemy.

JA: No, it just never sparked my interest. I watched the first one for like 15 minutes and then I just left the room.

TZ: So if you don’t like animated movies, what kind of movies do you like?

JA: You know those kind of movies that are so scary you can’t sleep, and you freak out when you wake up? That’s what I like.

TZ: So like The Grudge, The Ring?

JA: Stuff like that, you know like Saw…the kind of movies that mess with your head. I just like that feeling of getting freaked out, and the scarier, more messed up it is, the more I like it.

TZ: There’d probably be some Japanese anime that’d totally mess with your mind, you’d just have to get over the animated part.

JA Yeah, I know I just can’t do subtitles.

TZ: All right, so what kind of TV do you like to watch?

JA: Oh my god, my favorite show is Golden Girls, Lifetime Channel 69.

TZ: Umm…when did you start watching Golden Girls?

JA: It’s so pathetic, ever since I was little. I didn’t know English until like 6th grade and I didn’t understand it, but they’d sing and it’d make me laugh. It’s still funny up to now. It’s like 20 years old and it’s still funny now.

TZ: Okay, what about more “modern” shows?

JA: I honestly don’t watch a lot of TV. I like Seinfeld and Court TV, but that’s really about it.

TZ: All right, so lastly…what kind of music are you into?

JA: If I can dance to it, I like it. It’s usually hip-hop, techno, club, rap stuff…stuff like that. Anything in that department, I like.
