PDXmas Tuner Bash

It’s that time of year again and things are moving along like normal. Good snow pack at the mountains for some boarding, crazy storms that flood the freeways and shut down life as we know it, and of course the show season has come to close, or has it? With Christmas around the corner and many tuners itching to still take part in events in the Northwest during the cold chill, it was time to break away from the mold.

And keeping with the time of year, why not a charity toy drive? That was the plan put into motion by back in October by Doug Barclay, Scion Sales Manager at Beaverton Scion. But Beaverton didn’t want another small time dealer-held event; they wanted to make a statement. Enter Teske Design, a recent transplant to the Northwest. With over 10 years of experience in marketing and promotions in the automotive aftermarket, Teske Design developed an event that would bring all tuners together and hit Beaverton’s charity goals. The Beaverton Scion 30,000 sq ft warehouse was then made ready to host tuners, vendors and spectators on December 8th for the first ever PDXmas Tuner Bash, presented by NOS Energy Drink.

In full swing the event hosted 180 cars from 21 different makes and everywhere you looked it was sensory overload. A rave warehouse feel to the event was kept rolling with DJ Hess spinning from the second deck overlook onto the venue. Vendor row held some eye-popping attractions as well, from PDXine.com’s crowd pleasing 1999 Nissan Skyline R34 to Beaverton Scion’s demo tC, which was exclusively sporting Five:AD X5:F wheels, one of the new rollers from the Five Axis Design wheel line. Kingpin Audio also brought out two of their best projects in their 2008 Scion xB SEMA car and a Mini Cooper S that stopped people in their tracks. And keeping the crowd buzzing was NOS Energy, with free samples and Cynce Tester’s Dezod Motorsports turboed Scion tC.

A cruise through the show revealed that you could find almost every niche for tuners in the vehicles on display. Does a 1000hp Mitsubishi Evo 8 cover car excite you? Yeah, that’s in the XM Satellite VIP Lounge. Oh, you want to see a fully restored 1979 BMW 320 with a V8 swap? That’s over by vendor row. And to top it off, various teams from the Northwest were out in full force. Ranging from race-ready sleepers to full show rides, you could definitely pick your poison for how to build your ideal tuner.

With the event winding down, it was wound back up with a raffle that made Christmas morning at the Trump residence look boring. Prizes ranged from an ACT clutch, Weapon-R intake, IZNTRBL.com HID kit, Hose Techniques gift certificates, XM headunits, Elemental Design subwoofers, and Ekset Apparel and Turn3 Creative swag. Once everyone had their fill of an early Christmas, it was on to the awards. With such a wide array of vehicles to see, Race Design of Beaverton, OR had their hands full with the judging, but was able to narrow it down to a handful of worthy tuners.

When the dust settled and the music stopped, 200+ toys and over $1000 had been raised by attendees for the Toys for Joys charity, with Team Ascension taking home the Most Charitable Team award. The PDXmas Tuner Bash brought out some of the best the Northwest has to offer, both in the cars on display and the charity from the attendees. Keep a lookout in 2008 for more events and promotions from Teske Design and if you’re a Scion owner, we think Beaverton Scion just made a statement that you heard loud and clear.
