We head on over to the LA Auto Show where over 40 newest models and concepts were on display. This part 1 coverage shows off the South Hall where manufacturers such as Nissan, Mitsubishi, Hyundai, VW, Audi, Dodge, Chrysler, Chevrolet, Subaru, Saturn, Infiniti, BMW and more showed off their models. The first thing that caught our eye was the brand new Nissan GT-R. And let us tell you that this car is a beauty in person. Just check out the pictures if you don't believe us. We can't wait to see this thing hit the stateside.
Next up on the feature list is the all new Lancer Evolution. We were pretty impressed by its looks, though it seems like it's not as aggressive as past Evolution models. Nonetheless, it's going to be a fine addition to our sport compact industry. Contrasting the new Evolution was the all new Subaru STi. While some aren't too fond of the Subaru's new look, we were digging the widebody and the subtle accents that separates it from a normal WRX. Hyundai had a real cool concept on display, called the Genesis coupe. We hope that they continue with production keeping similar lines.
On the domestic side, the all new Camaro was on display but in convertible form! This attracted the crowds as the new Camaro not only looks bad ass, but the possibility of a convertible model makes it even more appealing. Best of all, it's coming stock with 21's in the front and 22's in the rear. Wait... we hope that it's coming! Also in the Chevy booth was a killer Corvette production courtesy of Jay Leno. This was one of the most beautiful Corvettes we've ever set our eyes on. Chevy had several concepts on display and they were all really neat to look at. The biggest noise in the Chevy booth was the Volt concept vehicle. They were claiming that it'll be able to commute 40 miles a day without using an ounce on gas! We can hear it now... the excuses of missing work because you forgot to plug in your car overnight.
Lastly for this portion of our coverage, the BMW booth had several impressive toys on display. The new M3 Coupe and Sedan were out and about and really attracted the crowds. We're looking forward to seeing these prowl the streets and what the aftermarket will be offering on them. The sedan looks killer though and we're glad BMW finally made a M3 sedan. Lastly, the new 1 series was on display. We've been following the introduction of this model for quite some time and we're overjoyed to say the least that it will finally be on the stateside. The 135 looks extremely appealing and should catch on in the aftermarket rather quickly. 3.0L, V6, twin turbo in a tiny car? Should make a killer time attack machine.
