At the start of 2005, a lot of tuners starting see the Nissan 240sx as one of the next great tuner cars. Sure tons of people still bought Civics, ‘Tegs, and Accords. But more and more people starting turning their attention to RWD cars. The people at Speedzone Performance, a company that car parts mostly for the Honda Civic, decided it was time to shift their focus to the 240.

And this is what they have to show for it. This beautiful S13 has a lot of time and patience in it. In fact, it’s the exact opposite of the S14 I wrote about last month. Where would I even start? How about the exterior? That’s always a good place I ‘spose.

So let’s talk paint for just a minute. The paint color is Fresh Fire Pepper red. The car was painted by Papa’s Customs. The mirrors on the car were colored matched perfectly by Papa’s. The front of this car features a tight-fitting JDM Chargespeed hood and front bumper, which houses the Precision 900 intercooler, which cools boost provided by the GT35/40R Garrett turbo. Got all that? Good. The wheels definitely help set this car off. (I’ve always been a fan of black on red.) These Volk Racing GT-V wheels wrapped in Falken RT-615 rubbers are just pure sex. And of course the ride’s a tight on when you’re rollin’ on Tanabe front and rear sway bars. But this car is anything but a show car. So let’s pop the hood and really see what makes this beauty purr.
Speedzone decided to go with the Red Top SR20DET engine. But you might notice that the valve cover’s not really "red" anymore. (Just hope they don’t see any real flames under the hood. =0P) P.C.C. Racing Engines did a lot of the engine work, and boy did they do a fantastic job. Greddy received some love for their Greddy/Trust Catback system, Greddy intake manifold and Greddy intake and exhaust cam gears. Of course the transmission isn’t even stock - It’s straight from a TT 300ZX. In fact, I don’t think there’s anything under this hood that hasn’t been changed, cleaned up, or just completely done away with, even small details like the Takara JDM Stainless Oil and Water Line Kit.

So how does it feel to sit in this 240? Well when you’ve got S15 front and rear seats, I’d say pretty nice. Need a place to put your hands? Well they’ll fit nice on the Nardi steering wheel. While the AEM Datalogger boost guage keeps your psi in check, a Greddy shift knob and B&M Short Shifter kit make it easy to accelerate through all the gears. And 2 12-inch Kicker Comp subs keep the tunes jamming. For that extra burst of speed, just remember there’s a Black 10lb Ny-Trex bottle waiting to be used.

So here you have it. A pimp ride anybody who’s into 240's would be proud to call their own.
