As Supra owners begin to notice the aging in their beloved vehicles, many enthusiasts set goals to rebuild them and make them like new. With its guaranteed stylish lines lasting for years to come, a rebuild of a Supra leaves many options open for the owner. As Ron started doing research on making his Supra anew, he started putting in a lot of his own time in completing this masterpiece. The finished product comes out of the woodwork now, and tunerZine is first on the list to snap this freshly painted silver bullet.
Giving the Supra a whole new style on the exterior, Ron scraped the stock front bumper for a new Do Luck front fascia. The Supra now sports a new, more aggressive look that makes it more fitting for 2004 and beyond. Custom side skirts line up with the new front bumper, and the Rod Millen Carbon Fiber wing that mounts on the trunk gives the Supra a whole new look. The entire car was stripped down and repainted a splash of bright silver from Porsche - extremely clean and classy. Completing the rest of the exterior, Ron decided he needed to go with a healthy set of coilovers that would give him the adjustability he wants. The familiar green shade of TEIN can be found on all four corners of this Supra, giving it the stance it needs lowered on 19x10 and 19x12 (yes 12!) HRE 547 wheels. The HRE's were finished with a chrome center amplifying the 4" lip in the rear.
Every 2JZ owner always has fun building a turbo setup for their engine. Ron is no exception to this rule, as his 2JZ has been converted to a single turbo upgrade as well. Starting of with a T-66 turbo sporting a .81 AR, a custom RPS exhaust manifold was bolted onto the head along with the turbo. A custom cold air intake was designed for this setup that let's the new more forcely induced engine breathe healthier. An HKS GT Front Mount Intercooler cools the pressurized monster while a Fluidyne Radiator ensures that it never overheats while daily driven on the streets. A twin pair of GReddy blow off valves were neatly welded on to relieve the pressure when the gas pedal is released from time to time. Additional fuel has been added through 720cc injectors, an HKS Fuel Rail, and twin in tank pumps. Adjusting fuel pressure to the most precise number is an Aeromotive Fuel Pressure Regulator. To help get all the power to the ground sufficiently and safely, the automatic transmission was fully built with a 3500rpm stall.
With the new turbo setup complete and the car freshly painted with a whole new look, Ron wanted to take every precaution to ensure that nothing could damage his new creation. An HKS VPC along with an APEXi S-AFC was installed to fine tune the components of the engine. A GReddy Profec B boost controller was added to assist in producing 694hp / 578tq @ 19psi. A UEGO wideband sensor along with several GReddy gauges ensures that this car was tuned properly and has that perfect air to fuel ratio mixture feeding into the turbocharged 2JZ. Last but not least, an HKS turbo timer reliably shuts down the car after a drive out on town or to his workk.
With the finishing touches added on with a Brembo brake kit, Ron's newly built Supra is a true work of art. Taking a car that has had the same style for almost a decade, Ron has added his own flare to the car creating a new look. Hopefully you all agree that this Supra is definitely far better than stock.
