This month's editor's choice is something completely different. While checking out Hotchkis's facility, I spotted this bright yellow Tundra on HRE's and couldn't believe my eye. I thought to myself, this has got to be a feature to really throw people off. I quickly asked Mark Rosetti of Hotchkis if the Tundra was TRD Supercharged and of course it was. This was going to have to be editor's choice for it's simple uniqueness.
Starting off with the exterior, Rosetti explained to me that the truck used to be a lot lower. It previously sported a full Hotchkis Tuning sport lowering package. Consisting of sport sway bars, sport coil springs, sport leaf springs and the Hotchkis / Bilsteain Shock Absorbers, this Tundra took a stance like none other. Lowered on HRE 3-piece wheels wrapped in Yokohama tires, the truck sports luxury in its own way. On the exterior, a prototype Molly Designs body kit makes the Tundra take on a look like none other. Finish that off with a bright yellow PPG paint job and Toyota Celica side mirrors and we can all agree this Tundra is on its own on the road.
Backing up the handling and the exterior, this Tundra is more than a blast to drive. For a 4x2 Access Cab, the V8-powered truck is aided with a TRD Supercharger kit. The rest of the bolt-on modifications are TRD goodies, including TRD headers and a TRD cat-back exhaust system. To help reinforce all the additional power from the supercharger, this Tundra also had a TRD Limited Slip differential installed. With the additional performance of the supercharger, Hotchkis decided to swap out the brakes for a Stop Tech brake kit. The rear brakes were converted to Toyota Sequoia rear discs.
The interior of the truck was decked out with stereo as well. Being a company advertisement and showing Toyota what Hotchkis can do to all lines of vehicles, Rockford Fosgate and Lightning Audio was thrown into the audio mix. The entire interior was revamped with yellow highlights with a Classic Soft Trim custom interior.
What can I say, I'm a sucker for something that's totally different and this Tundra was it.
