When Honda introduced the S2000 in 2000, everyone was stoked about the work of art they had produced. Not only did the car have great styling, but its high revv'ing 240hp motor wasn't too shabby either. Combine that with a near perfect 50/50 balance in terms of handling and you have one bad ass roadster. Oh yeah, it was RWD too. All motor, high revv'ing, RWD power from Honda? No way.
Jason grabbed one of these hotcakes and decided that it needed a touch of his own. Starting with a light engine mod, Jason swapped out the stock restrictive air box for a J's Racing carbon fiber cold air intake system. He then added a Mugen pressure plate, replacing the stock unit to give the S2K a little more grab. A Mugen oil cap was also added to the engine bay as a nice little amenity.
Many will argue that the true enjoyment of driving the S2000 is on the windy roads, taking advantage of its natural pure handling ability. Jason decided to step up the suspension a notch, concentrating more on balancing the handling to push the car to the limits. Comptech adjustable springs were installed to stiffen up the suspension, along with a Gendron Lower Sway Bar. Brakes received an upgrade for those track days, Power Slot CadmiumPlated Slotted rotors along with Cobalt GT-Sport brake pads. Balancing out the new wheel equation are 18x8 and 18x9.5 lightweight BBS LM wheels on all four corners. Jason decided that none other than Bridgestone Pole Position S-03 tires would be seen on this car, and what a great decision that is. For those that have never driven on these tires - you have to try them out!
Aesthetically, the S2K is pleasing to the eyes as it is. Jason accented the natural bodylines with an Amuse front lip and swapped out the headlights for a set of clear ones. On the interior, Jason purchased the new '04 center console and radio door, as they seemed more functional than the older model ones. Muz floor mats, roof mat, and window pad can be seen from the driver and passenger seat as well. Last but not least, a Voodoo counter sunk shift knob replaced the stock unit to make shifting a nice change.
So there you have it - Jason has one hell of a balanced handling machine with a little more power to boot than a stock S2K. In my eyes, it was a great idea that Honda continued to produce this car, as it is one of the most fun vehicles I have ever had the priviledge to pilot.
