An Exotic NSX

The NSX. One of Japan's most exotic looking vehicles, and quite honestly one of the most beautiful cars period. It's not often that we even see these cars on the road as they're pretty rare, but when we do catch sight of it, it's normally memorable. Now even more rare is seeing an NSX decked out with extremely classy goods that really make it go above and beyond just its price tag. Take John's NSX for example - starting off with an '02 NSX T model, most of us would be happy just to own it. John on the other hand, decided there was more fun to be had with his NSX and he took it upon himself to ensure that he found the truth behind it.

Powered by Honda's own V6 motor, John decided to pep it up just a tad to really smoke the competition in style. Starting off with none other than Comptech Headers, John bolted the shiny wonders to the head. Feeding out all the exhaust is a lightweight Taitec JGTC exhaust system. By now most of you have heard of the JGTC craze that is about to hit the stateside. A lot of the JGTC influence was brought onto John's NSX. Perfecting both track and street performance, John also installed a Pro Car Specialties (of Germany) Carbon Fiber air box and intake scoop onto the NSX. For the quarter mile straight guns, John has opted for an NX custom 100 shot wet kit to boost the NSX. Getting all the power to the ground is a Comptech Power Grip II Clutch and lightweight flywheel design. Changing up the gear ratio just a tad and ensuring the car handles like a pure wonder, John swapped out the stock gears for an NSX R 4.235 gear ratio along with the NSX R rear differential. Last but not least, the rear engine bay has received a nice fresh Cantrell Concepts carbon fiber engine cover, along with a polished injector covers, wire shroud and aluminum overflow container.

Powertrain, check. Exterior? Hmmm...the NSX has exotic and attractive lines as it is - but it's mild in the eyes of many people. John added a more aggressive touch and some JGTC influenced styling to the body of his NSX. On the rear is a Taitec Carbon Kevlar rear diffuser. This thing just totally sets apart the NSX and shows that it means pure business from the rear. John opted to have it match painted to the rest of the car, flowing evenly from bumper to bumper. Sitting on the trunk is a Taitec JGTC 500 carbon fiber wing. More Taitec JGTC styling comes in the form of carbon fiber rear view mirrors that totally set off the side of the car. Keeping the front end relatively stock, John had the front spoiler match painted as well. The body itself has also received a modest weight reduction - this NSX weighs in at about 2840 pounds, making it one of the lightest full body NSX T's out there in the US.
John spared no more change when it came to the suspension and brake setup on this car. It just straight screams out woah. A custom titanium rotor brake setup is seen behind the custom Volk LE37T's. Up front are 14 inch rotors (that weigh in at 5.5 lbs!) and 13 inch rotors in the rear (measly 4.5 lbs!). These lightweight titanium rotors are hidden behind 18x7.5 / 18x9.5 gunmetallic LE37T's wrapped with none other than those Bridgestone Potenza Pole Position S-03 rubber. 225/35/18 in the front, and a thick 285/30/18 in the rear. The car handles like a track bred monster thanks to a set of TEIN RA coilovers. A Comptech strut bar can also be seen in the rear to balance any last minute suspension issues.

Take a ride in the interior with John and sit comfortably in the Recaro SPG's, wrapped in leather and suede. A Sparco steering wheel is attached via a Taitec steering wheel hub for John's comfort. He also swapped out the stock shift knob and boot for an NSX R replacement. Finishing touches on the interior include paint matched interior panels and door panels wrapped in matching suede to the shade of the seats.

Hibbs got a chance to shoot this RWD wonder that's extremely rare as it is. On top of that, this NSX has ran a blistering 11.2 @ 121mph on the bottle, prior to more weight reduction. That time was even achieved on those Potenza S-03's, showing just how versatile and advantageous those tires really are.

I know I aspire to one day own an NSX, but one as nice as John's? I can only keep dreaming.

It's radical. It's lightweight. It doesn't have a hood, or doors, or a windscreen. (Okay, there's a transparent wind deflector. A big whopping 70-milimeter's worth.) You pronounce it "crossbow," but i
