Some people have all the luck. Whether it's finding a hundred bucks on the floor or winning the lottery, for some things just go their way. Let's face it, life just wouldn't be the same without the potential excitement of giveaways and prizes and best of all - something for free! Faulkner Honda, HOT92 and Motor Trend Auto Shows teamed up with Fox Marketing to build this one of a kind Honda Fit as a giveaway. Taking place at the PA Auto & Boat Show on January 25th, one lucky winner can go to HOT92.com and register to win this 2008 Fit seen here. As Brian Fox puts it, "We love giving back to the community and the tuner scene and a lot of people in the tuner industry played a role in this project. I really love being a part of these kinds of things because it changes people's lives. Some person might need a new car and what a beautiful thing it is to see someone crying with you when you made a dream come true."
For that reason alone we are also proud to be part of this project, showcasing it on Tunerzine.com before it is given away to a lucky winner in PA. We'll start by getting Fox's point of view on the project, their goals and the direction they took. Then we'll put in our two cents on the build, but at the end of the day we are extremely proud to showcase such a nice giveaway. When Fox was first approached to do this project by Honda and Motor Trend Auto Shows, he was given all control over the car, but he had to do one thing: main the factory Honda warranty. Since you never know who might be the lucky winner of the car, keeping the warranty intact was a no brainer for a condition in the build. Another benefit is that any Fit owner could relate to this project and build something clean with function that could be daily driven. "At the end of the day, this is what the winner will do with the car, drive it every day." Fox elaborated.
For the performance parts, and there are some, Faulkner Honda in Harrisburg did the installation themselves with only Gold Certified Honda technicians. Since the dealership themselves were installing the modifications, the factory warranty was preserved. Fox even told us that they do motor swaps, which we thought was really cool. For the stereo, Fox contacted Andy and the team at Creative Car Tunes. Once again, only Rockford Fosgate components were used and the result doesn't disappoint anybody. "I have been driving the car around just to make sure that everything is right and the Rockford stereo ROCKS. It is so clean and the bass is just out of hand, it is tuned perfectly which a lot of shops just can't do." Fox informed us. We can relate, as tuning a stereo is just like an engine. What good is throwing in a ton of parts if you don't take the time to make sure it all works to its potential?
No Fox Marketing project is complete without a fresh paint job. Fox didn't go wild and crazy this time with a flat scheme from BASF, but chose to contact Dave Lightner of DLights Customs to lay down the BASF paint and to pinstripe the custom Konig wheels. The car was then lowered and taken over to Fully Loaded Automotive to have the fenders cut to get rid of the rubbing. As Fox would put it, "I didn't want this annoying sound to be in the car because some 50 year old G-Ma might win the car and then I have to hear her bitching at me about this annoying sound." At the end of the day though, the car has to look good but be fully functional.
Now down to the details, the engine modifications were kept light with Mishimoto's fresh new carbon fiber intake entry. This piece is one of the cleanest we have laid our eyes on and its quality is top notch. We can't wait to see more products from Mishimoto. The valve cover was also painted with some BASF touch and a Tanabe cat-back exhaust system was bolted on. On the exterior, BASF R-M blue and black paint gave this Fit a clean but contrasting theme. Accenting the stock body lines and giving the Fit a slightly more aggressive tone is Honda's own Factory Performance body kit and upper wing. Impressive Signs did the vinyl treatment and as mentioned before, DLights Customs was held responsible for the paint job.
On the inside, the interior received fair treatment to keep it away from complete stock. Katzkin's black leather and blue suede wrap over the seats with blue stitching as a nice detail. The car is lowered with B&G Sport suspension springs while all four corners can be seen Konig Wheels' Feather in a 17x7 style. Finished in a nice black shade with blue pinstripe, this wheel combination along with the Toyo T1R tires made for the perfect match to the rest of the car.
As was mentioned before, this Fit gets plenty of boom thanks for Rockford Fosgate's speakers and subwoofers. Their 500w amplifier is not too shabby either. To stay ahead of the game, a Pioneer head unit along with iPod integration was installed so whoever is fortunate enough to win this vehicle will be in the forefront of car audio technology.
