The Supra - one of the greatest cars ever created. With RWD Turbocharged power, the Supra is still arguably one of the best street vehicles ever produced on the stateside. The 2JZ engine has now dominated the Pro RWD circuit in drag racing, displaying its true attributes in obtaining reliable and high horsepower figures. Danny's Supra has gone over many many changes throughout the year since he purchased it. I've known Danny for over 5 years now and have watched this Supra go from an automatic stock baby to a 6 speed T-78 powered beast.
When the Supra first debut on the states, many people made snide remarks about the spoiler it sported on the rear. To this day, people can still argue about the high spoiler, but there's no argument here on Danny's Supra. Danny opted to remove it, giving the Supra a menacing and sleek style throughout the entire car. Accenting the front end is a Wings West lip and a Euro Spec Supra factory hood scoop, that just gives a slight hint of what's underneath in the bay.
The 2JZ motor has gotten its fair share of goodies. Danny grabbed a GReddy T-78 turbo upgrade kit off the shelf, and converted the TT into a single turbo monster. Peeking from behind the front bumper is an HKS Type S front mount intercooler that feeds off 20 pounds of boost. Additional fuel is added to the Supra courtesy of twin Walbro fuel pumps and an Aeromotive fuel pressure regulator. Fuel tuning is a priority in any heavily boosted vehicle, and Danny has that under control with the 720cc injectors and a HKS fuel rail. A GReddy wastegate regulates the pressurized boost, while a TiAl blow off valve relieves the built up pressure in between shifts. Several components under the hood has received a polishing job, making the engine bay as clean as can be. Last but not least, the exhaust fumes cut through a custom 3.5 inch downpipe and dumped out of an APEXi GT Spec exhaust.
With the exoticness of a Supra, Danny couldn't settle for any wheels less than HRE's. Up front are 19x9 HRE 549's in a fine polished finish, and in the rear is a nice wide pair of 19x11 549's in a matching finish. Lowered on Eibach Springs, the car sits perfectly on the 19's.
Standard electronics are utilized in tuning the Supra, including an APEXi S-AFC and a GReddy Profec B boost controller. The car overall is kept clean and simple on the outside, but holds well over 550whp underneath the hood. It prowls the streets daily so be on the lookout, this is one Supra that's far from the tame beast Toyota released and discontinued.
